Greensboro, NC ‘제일 장로교회’에서 주관한 선교사역 으로 Mexico Yucatan 주 Sacalum 시에 있는 ‘시내산 교회’를 두번 찾아 봉사하는 기회가 있었다. 선교 사역이 끝이 나고 교회로 돌아오는 길에 주위에 있는 Yucatan 주 명소들을 탐방하는 즐거움을 가졌다.

처음은 2006년 11월에 교회에서 ‘Medical Mission Team’ 다섯명 가운데 하나로 봉사를 하였고, 둘째번은 2015년 2월에 교회 ‘상록회’원 14명이 참가하는 선교사업 이었다.

The Mayan town of Uxmal [발음: ‘우쉬말], in Yucatán, was founded c. A.D. 700 and had some 25,000 inhabitants. The layout of the buildings, which date from between 700 and 1000, reveals a knowledge of astronomy. The Pyramid of the Magician stands over 100 feet tall. The ruins of the ceremonial structures at Uxmal represent the pinnacle of late Mayan art and architecture in their design, layout and ornamentation.

Chichen Itza, in ancient pre-Colombian times, was a vibrant city with a diverse population of Mayan people extending well into the tens of thousands. Today, the site is home to the remnants of many ancient Mayan structures, including the famed El Castillo, Pyramid of Kukulkan.
