Puyallup, WA 우리집 올 가을 Cosmos와 감나무 이야기 … 
우리집 앞뜰 전경 …

집 앞뜰 Maple tree가 물씬 Fall color를 선보이고, 화단에 Cosmos들이 만발하여 집앞을 장식하고있다. 
가을/겨울 철 햇살이 따스한 날에는 Front porch에 나와 일광욕을 즐기며 대화를 나누곤 한다. 
여기 토종 Cosmos는 키가 6~7 feet나 높이 자라고 굵은 둥치의 꽃나무이다. 
올해는 뒷뜰 감나무에 단감이 주렁주렁 많이 달려있다. 
우리집 감은 말랑한 ‘홍시’가 아니고 딱딱한 ‘단감’이다. 11월이 접어들면 감 수확을 시작하고, 차가운 단감을 먹는 맛을 생각하니 입에 군침이 돈다. ***[END OF SLIDE SHOW] ********** THE END **********

On a bright and beautiful autumn day, we, three including our daughter, ventured out to see fall colors around ‘Mt. Rainier National Park’ and its surrounding areas, Naches, Yakima and Umtanum, WA. We set out driving southeast along US Hwy 410, skirting along east side of Mt. Rainier down to Yakima. From there, heading to the north we followed WA821 (instead of I-82) for about 20 miles and merged into I-90 to return home. The 20-mile stretch of WA821 through the American Indian towns, like Umtanum, is a gorgeous scenic highway along ‘Yakima River,’ and a railroad track along the other side across the river.
This year the fall colors seem to arrive in a week or two later. 
The white water along ‘White River’ is glacial-snow melt from the mountains. 
US Hwy410 curves along the mountain terrane. 
Cloud and snow-covered Mt. Rainier 
‘Roza Recreation Site,’ an Indian resort along Yakima River. 
At a picnic table beside the river we ate our home-prepared lunch. 
This area is arid and vegetations are scarce. But the Yakima River seemed to provide a perfect match with the arid environment. 
‘Umtanum Recreation Site,’ another scenic Indian resort on WA821 along ‘Yakima River.’ 
A charming footbridge that spans the Yakima River below. 
People were enjoying boating, fishing, and trail walking in the resort. 
The water along the Yakima River is shallow, slow flowing and calm. Just so beautiful and peaceful!

Here, it looked best for trout fishing, and we wondered salmon swim upstream for their yearly salmon run along this river.

Par 5 First Hole의 Tee Box가 앞에 보인다. Fairway 따라 있는 나무들이 아름다운 Fall Colors로 들기 시작한 것 같다.

Club house 내에 있는 Restaurant의 Menu 판에 ‘Weekly Specials’ 중에 맨 끝에 항목 ‘Korean Wings’ (Chicken)을 읽어보면, ‘고추장 Sauce’ 라는 말과 ‘Toasted sesame seeds and green onion’이 보인다. 이 GC는 아주 시골 GC 인데, 몇년 전만해도 한국 음식 혹은 그 일부분이 음식 Menu에 포함되는 일은 상상도 하기 어려운 일이었다. K-Food가 얼마나 세계적으로 늘리 알려지고 유명해 졌는지를 실감할 수 있다. ********** THE END **********

Chambers Bay Golf Course was the venue for the 2015 US Open and is located in University Place, WA, some 20 miles from our house in Puyallup, WA. It is a links course along the Puget Sound Bay, and measures 7,124 yards from the pro’s tee. You’ll have to walk the whole length with a caddie to play the course.
In the first photo below our family, wife and daughter, were celebrating my 85th birthday at Anthony’s at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, several miles north of Chambers Bay GC. A large white ferry in the background shuttles between this park and Vashion Island, one of many islands in the Puget Sound. To the right of the ferry is shown snow/cloud covered Mt. Rainier, the tallest mountain in the US West, some 14,400 feet high.

‘Tacoma 중앙장로교회’ ‘Enoch 선교회’ 여름철 야유회 Picnic을 Gig Harbor, WA에 있는 한국인 소유 ‘Yang’s Nursery’ 에서 갖게되어 일행 30여명이 하루 나절 즐거운 Picnic 여행을 가졌다.
교회 정문에서 일행이 떠나기 전 단체 기념 사진을 찍고 ...

Seattle에 있는 UWMC (University of Washington Medical Center) 에서 건강 검진을 받고 집으로 돌아오는 길 중간 지점에 가까운 ‘Dash Point State Park’ [in Federal Way, WA; 이 도시는 Seattle 남쪽 20 miles에 위치하고, 또 우리집이 있는 Puyallup, WA 소도시 북쪽 20 miles 지점에 위치하고 있다]를 들려, 우리 가족 셋이서 Picnic 점심도 먹어며 State Park의 주위 경관을 둘러보는 귀한 기회를 가졌다.
‘Dash Point State Park’의 ‘Dash Point’ 주위 경관이다. 
긴 Fishing pier 모습 … 지금은 보수중이라 출입이 금지되어 있다. 
해변가 부목은 여기 저기 흩어져 있는 모습이 보기에도 자연스럽고 또 걸터앉아 쉬기도 하는 좋은 자연의 Bench 역할도 한다. 
이 지역 바닷가에는 어디서나 큰 부목 (Driftwood)이 여기저기 흩어져 해변가를 장식하고 있다.

바로 바닷물 가에 큰 나무 (Birch ?) 하나가 주위를 장식하고 있다.
